Make YOGA a part of your daily life
About me
From burnt out School Teacher to Yoga Teacher
So a little about me and what brought me to Yoga.
As a qualified Primary School teacher of 12 years and on the verge of burn out, I took up a regular Ashtanga practice in 2018. I had dabbled since 2014, but had never fully committed to a practice ‘beyond the mat’ ( more on that later)
I love teaching children, it is a rewarding career, however it is also, all consuming and and leaves little time for self care and even less for any head space!
Let’s say my monkey mind was in overdrive most of the time, with regularly 20 or more tabs open on my computer, I decided enough was enough! I needed Yoga back in my life in all its forms!
I had always been active with a back ground in sports and gymnastics, so I had a good level of fitness, but it wasn’t the Asana ( physical practice) that hooked me in… in fact, you could say, the asana became a moving meditation for me. However, my yoga practice would start and end in the studio and my monkey mind would switch off for that hour and switch back on the moment I left the class. It was at this point that I realised enough was enough.
