What is Ashtanga Yoga?

Ashtanga Yoga is a dynamic and structured form of yoga that involves synchronising breath with a progressive series of postures. This practice is physically demanding, combining strength, flexibility, and endurance. It consists of six series of postures, each more challenging than the last, beginning with the Primary Series, designed to detoxify the body and align the spine.

Ashtanga also emphasises the use of ujjayi breath, drishti (focus points), and bandhas (energy locks), helping practitioners build discipline and concentration while fostering a deep connection between mind and body.

What is Vinyasa Yoga?

Vinyasa Yoga is a style of yoga that focuses on flowing movements, linking each posture seamlessly with breath. Often referred to as “flow yoga,” Vinyasa emphasises the transition between poses, creating a smooth, continuous sequence of movements. Each class can vary in pace and intensity, offering flexibility and variety.

The fluid nature of Vinyasa helps improve strength, flexibility, and balance while calming the mind. It is known for its dynamic, creative flows that engage both body and breath, making it suitable for people who enjoy a more active, moving meditation.
